Langdale Chase, in the Lake District, is one of our favourite venues with wonderful views of the lakes and mountains. Even if we are forced inside on those “occasional” wet days in the Lake District, the hotel is full of character and we have lots of areas that we love to use for fantastic shots of our couples. We had the best of both worlds at Mel and Rob’s wedding as you can see….

As a family man, it was a real pleasure to photograph the wedding of Donna & Gary and the naming ceremony of Anna and Edie, their two beautiful daughters. As is always the case when working with children, nothing ever goes quite to plan… as you can see when Edie decided that she was not going to let go of mummy – no matter what! But this just added to the occasion and I was in my element. The brief from Donna & Gary was to keep everything as casual as possible and to photograph mostly in a reportage style. This worked particularly well in the intimate setting of Broadoaks luxury Country House hotel at Windermere.

We love this natural shot of Donna

I love you mummy and I am not letting go!

We took some shelter under the trees. The ground was a bit soft and we really felt for Donna in her killer heels!

We got loads of lovely natural shots after the ceremony of everyone enjoying themselves

We sneaked Donna away for this shot. Doesn’t she look amazing…

When you know that a venue has previously been a favourite of the likes of Posh ’n’ Becks and Tom ’n’ Nicole, it certainly does get you excited each time you go there to photograph a wedding. Our very own Posh ‘n’ Becks – Sonia & Rob certainly picked a fantastic combination of St Marys Church in Rydal and The Samling. They even managed to get permission for photographs in Wordsworth Gardens! There was a great moment when Sonia and Rob left the church just as a coach load of Japanese tourists was passing, the coach stopped and everyone on board rushed to the window to see Sonia and Rob, I think they took more pictures of the wedding in two minutes than I did all day! Everything about the day was just that little bit special and it was a privilege to be with such a lovely couple on such an important day.

The Church in Rydal was beautiful and perfect for this intimate ceremony.

As man and wife they were covered in confetti and then began the hike up a massive hill to the Wordsworth gardens – in those heels Sonia, well done!!

Back at The Samling we took advantage of the stunning setting. The view over the lake is fantastic, but probably even more so from the hot tub outside their honeymoon suite!!
