Samantha & James

July 21, 2011

Samantha & James chose the beautiful hotel and setting of the Rampsbeck Hotel for their wedding and we certainly think they made the right choice.

Theirs was the third wedding we had photographed at the hotel in as many months and it is certainly becoming one of our favourite venues. The hotel is definitely worth a look for any couple who have not chosen their venue yet. It has wonderful views over lake Ullswater and the hotel its self has a lovely home like feel to it, not to mention very friendly and accommodating staff. It was a special place for James to return to as he at one time was the chef at the Rampsbeck and it holds many happy memories for him.

We hope you enjoy a small selection of the lovely pictures we captured of their day.

For the second time in as many weeks, we had the pleasure of joining a family for the marriage of another one of their children. We photographed Paul’s sister’s wedding a few years ago and now we were lucky enough to be asked to photograph Paul & Lesley on their special day. They chose the beautiful Addingham church near Little Salkeld for their marriage and then we followed them to Leeming House for their reception. Leeming House is one of the nicest venues around with truly stunning panoramic views of Ullswater and the surrounding mountains – it makes for some really dramatic wedding photography! We were also very lucky to be there on such a scorching hot day – it was simply stunning.

The weather in Carlisle on the day of Emma and Gavin’s wedding was not good, in fact, it was torrential rain. It wasn’t much better in Glenridding either. Being a wedding photographer in the Lake District means that you become accustomed to unpredictable weather, so we always need to have a back up plan for situations like this, when going outside is not an option. Fortunately, Emma wasn’t phased by the weather and was simply looking forward to having a fantastic wedding. We were looking forward to getting some fantastic wedding photographs in their beautiful Lake District venue.

The Detail…

Luckily we managed to get the guys outside for a few before the ceremony. Everyone was in a great mood even though the grass was soggy and Gav’s brother was throwing the punches…

Emma’s room was bathed in natural light and we got some lovely shots of her getting ready…

This is a great moment, caught when Emma was walking up the aisle to meet her future husband

It just so happened that as soon as they said ‘I do’ the heavens literally opened with the most torrential rain of the year…. luckily, we are resourceful!

Emma’s mum made all the wedding stationary which looked great. The sugar craft on the cake looked pretty fantastic too!

The rainbow was a very welcome sight. We decided to get straight outside, before the famous Lake District weather changed again…

With the weather threatening, we took the opportunity presented by a welcome busrt of sunshine. The results were…….fantastic!

It’s amazing how happy a little sunshine makes everyone!
