As Cumbria’s leading wedding photographers we are used to photographing weddings at some beautiful and amazing venues, but Blairquhan Castle in Ayrshire is certainly something special. Regarded by many as one of the top fifty venues in the world to be married, we were very excited about spending the day with Ruth & Thomas on such a wonderful occasion. But just when you thought it could not get any better you also find out that the wedding is fifties themed. Ruth had done a fantastic job in arranging so much incredible detail for the day, making it a dream for us as photographers. We photographed the wedding of Ruth’s sister a few years ago and so it was lovely to be back with their family once again and we would like to thank them all for allowing us to join them on such a special and memorable occasion

Although I normally meet my bride and groom before their wedding day, Mark and Marina flew in from Jersey and I only met them for the first time on the morning of the wedding! As such, I had no idea that Marina was in fact Russian and that her family had flown in from Russia to be with her on her wedding day. This was a lovely surprise and the whole day had a wonderful mix of English and Russian wedding traditions. I am not sure if it was for this reason, or that they were such lovely people, but the whole day was just that bit special, with lots of excitement and emotion….. and of course lots of translation from English to Russian and back again!

We are very fortunate in that we do tend to photograph some of the nicest weddings in Cumbria and the wedding of Hayley & David was certainly no exception. The combination of a lovely couple, glorious sunshine, Greystoke Castle, a Bakerwood Marquee and a helicopter, left us feeling like children in a sweet shop (as you might be able to tell)! Greystoke castle really is a wonderful venue and I love to work there, but then being able to move on to Hayley’s parent’s beautiful home in Dalston was a real treat. Hayley & David really know how to travel in style and would like to personally thank family friend Malcolm Wilson, for the use of his fantastic helicopter. We would like to thank Hayley and David for allowing us to record the story of their fantastic day.

The reception was held in a stunning Bakerwood Marquee, the staff were exceptional (as always) and the dancing continued late into the night.
