As a family man, it was a real pleasure to photograph the wedding of Donna & Gary and the naming ceremony of Anna and Edie, their two beautiful daughters. As is always the case when working with children, nothing ever goes quite to plan… as you can see when Edie decided that she was not going to let go of mummy – no matter what! But this just added to the occasion and I was in my element. The brief from Donna & Gary was to keep everything as casual as possible and to photograph mostly in a reportage style. This worked particularly well in the intimate setting of Broadoaks luxury Country House hotel at Windermere.

Edie and Anna… just chilling out before the celebrations

Gary getting ready, the orchid buttonholes were gorgeous… but made us rather nervous!

Donna looked stunning in her gown…

A lovely few moments between father and daughter…

We love this natural shot of Donna

I love you mummy and I am not letting go!

We took some shelter under the trees. The ground was a bit soft and we really felt for Donna in her killer heels!

We got loads of lovely natural shots after the ceremony of everyone enjoying themselves

We sneaked Donna away for this shot. Doesn’t she look amazing…

The weather in Carlisle on the day of Emma and Gavin’s wedding was not good, in fact, it was torrential rain. It wasn’t much better in Glenridding either. Being a wedding photographer in the Lake District means that you become accustomed to unpredictable weather, so we always need to have a back up plan for situations like this, when going outside is not an option. Fortunately, Emma wasn’t phased by the weather and was simply looking forward to having a fantastic wedding. We were looking forward to getting some fantastic wedding photographs in their beautiful Lake District venue.

The Detail…

Luckily we managed to get the guys outside for a few before the ceremony. Everyone was in a great mood even though the grass was soggy and Gav’s brother was throwing the punches…

Emma’s room was bathed in natural light and we got some lovely shots of her getting ready…

This is a great moment, caught when Emma was walking up the aisle to meet her future husband

It just so happened that as soon as they said ‘I do’ the heavens literally opened with the most torrential rain of the year…. luckily, we are resourceful!

Emma’s mum made all the wedding stationary which looked great. The sugar craft on the cake looked pretty fantastic too!

The rainbow was a very welcome sight. We decided to get straight outside, before the famous Lake District weather changed again…

With the weather threatening, we took the opportunity presented by a welcome busrt of sunshine. The results were…….fantastic!

It’s amazing how happy a little sunshine makes everyone!

Elizabeth and Seb’s wedding was a really memorable one for us, mostly because they were such a great couple, but partly due to the fact that when we arrived we realised that we knew loads of their guests! Having such an amazing venue with gorgeous weather was just the icing on the cake!
Elizabeth is a local solicitor and Seb is well known in the area because he used to play a lot of local football, so with all their friends, family and colleauges, there was a brilliant atmosphere. They kept all their guests entertained with a caricature artist whilst we whipped them off to take some lovely pictures in the beautiful grounds of the hotel.

Let’s start with the boys…

Ok, now the bride…

Elizabeth had always wanted the opportunity to wear some mad gladiator style shoes, and she proudly shows them off here…

It was a beautiful sunny day, so we headed straight for the shade for these modern shots of the couple

Elizabeth and Seb had hired a caricature artist for the reception, he certainly kept everyone entertained!

The speeches went down a storm, as you might be able to tell…
