Although I do enjoy every wedding I photograph, it is always nice to be involved in something a little different and this was certainly the case with Ellie and Marcus. They got married in Vegas some time ago, but had now decided to get their friends and family together for a lovely weekend away and an exchange of rings ceremony performed by Marcus’s sister. As is often the case with these ideas, they start off small, but then things change and before long Ellie had a wedding dress, three bridesmaids and not to forget a photographer! They had rented the fantastic Kaber Chapel with its indoor BBQ area, sauna and hot tub. They all had a fantastic weekend, I must admit I really felt like I was having to leave the party early when it was time for me to leave.

A beautiful country house hotel with views of the lake, a picturesque country church, a carriage and an Aston Martin DB9….. what more could you ask for on your wedding day, other than Paul Mortimer Photography to capture the whole day for you of course! I always enjoy attending weddings at the Merewood Hotel in Windermere and I think it makes the perfect venue for a winter wedding with its open fires and cosy lounges. The wedding of Helen & Phil was no exception and we had a great day with them, I am sure you agree that the carriage Helen used is beautiful, although the Aston Martin she organised for Phil as a surprise would of been my preferred method of transport, but you know what us boys are like for our toys!

It was nice to be asked to photograph the wedding of Claire and Andrew, as I have know Andrew’s mother for many years. She is a lovely lady and she assured them that I would do an amazing job of their wedding pictures….. no pressure there then! We started at Claires home which is a working farm with lovely views of the local countryside, before heading to the lovely local village church at Dalston, then finally we joined them at the Greenhill Hotel near Carlisle. As you can see they were certainly up for some fun on the day and it enabled us to capture lots of spontaneous moments and laughter throughout the day. I am glad to say that after the big build up Claire & Andrew were over the moon with their wedding pictures, as were their friends and family.

The guys before the ceremony

This gorgeous one was caught reportage style, just before Claire entered the beautiful church at Dalston

The ceremony was lovely and was even filled with laughter!

Another great reportage moment as Claire and Andrew leave the church

We took the opportunity to use the grounds at the Greenhill hotel and the beautiful wedding car for these shots

Wedding cakes with a difference….

The speeches…

We had a lovely day with Samantha and Geryn for their marriage at the ever popular Greehill Hotel, near Wigton, Carlisle, in November. I have enjoyed meeting up with them when we could over the last year or so, but as Sam and Geryn are both in the army, it was difficult enough trying to meet just one of them, never mind both together! Everything on the day went amazingly well and we genuinely enjoyed spending such a special time with them. You are a lovely couple and we hope you have a great life together.

Release the doves!

The ground was a bit wet with it being winter, luckily Geryn is a gentleman!

We got these lovely shots in the grounds of the Greenhill hotel, with the sun low in the winter sky…

This is a gorgeous one of Sam…

Geryn and the lads…

Geryn was asked to bring Sam’s bouquet for this shot of the girls, Sam was less than impressed…

The lovely decoration on the cake…

The speeches were great, as you can see….

Although I normally meet my bride and groom before their wedding day, Mark and Marina flew in from Jersey and I only met them for the first time on the morning of the wedding! As such, I had no idea that Marina was in fact Russian and that her family had flown in from Russia to be with her on her wedding day. This was a lovely surprise and the whole day had a wonderful mix of English and Russian wedding traditions. I am not sure if it was for this reason, or that they were such lovely people, but the whole day was just that bit special, with lots of excitement and emotion….. and of course lots of translation from English to Russian and back again!

Walking down to the ceremony to the beautiful sound of the harp played by Anna Kate Pearson from Windermere…

They held their ceremony in the great hall of the Langdale Chase Hotel, it was beautiful and we got a fantastic mixture of shots from both above and below…

These gorgeous shots were taken inside the hotel before the Lake district weather cleared up!

We decided to brave the weather…

With fantastic results!

The langdale Chase is a fantastic wedding venue for it’s stunning views over Lake Windermere as you can see…

Fun was had by all when the dancing began…
